Because it allows freedom on a whole new level.

It’s seen as a step towards independance and adulthood. However that’s usually negated by the fact that they have to borrow mommy and daddy’s car, and the parents still pay for insurance and gas as well.

because when you wanna leave you can, like if your mom or dad is really pissing you off. or if you have to be picked up or drop off you can never be late.

Because it means more independant, and one step closer to adulthood.

It means more freedom, to a certain extent. It’s not that way for all teens, though, my mom practically had to force one of my brothers to get his.

Some teens don’t go to college. Thus not getting a student bus pass that can take you anywhere in the county for 40p. Meaning sometimes it can cost them up to £4.00. In my car I could get to town and back for £5 petrol. It’s worth that extra £1 to be able to stick your bags in the back and not hold onto the bus rail with your teeth while you struggle up the aisle.
It also makes you feel independent. You can get up and go when you feel like. It’s also something ‘adults’ do and teens want to be treated like adults. That’s why they drink. Adults do it and they want to be treated like adults. So they act like it
There’s no waiting for 6 hour trains to London (from here) in the dark, or getting up for them at 7am.

FREEDOM!
I waited to get my drivers license but at the same time most of my friends & my boyfriend had his. I was almost 18 before I started driving but had a learners permit from the age of 17.
It was a great feeling to just be able to go. Not figure out who’s parents were gonna take us & pick us up. Who needed picked up where. As long as we made curfew our parents could say a word!

You don’t have rely on your parents to take you places anymore. Plus you don’t have to wait for them to come pick up from places.
